Behind on your books?

It happens more than you’d think, and it can be fixed.

A busy season, a bookkeeper who moved on, a Xero file that stopped making sense. Books fall behind in good businesses for ordinary reasons, and you don’t need to tidy anything up before you get in touch.

I can bring your books up to date, work through errors and gaps in the records, and get any overdue BAS lodged, one period at a time.

Common starting points

  • Months of unreconciled transactions sitting in Xero
  • A BAS that’s overdue, or one you think went in wrong
  • Missing receipts or incomplete records
  • Books left half-finished by a previous bookkeeper
Working with Patricia

You work directly with me, not a rotating team.

01

Let’s talk

We start with a conversation about your business, how bookkeeping is currently handled, and where you need support.

02

Understand your business

Before anything changes, I learn how your business actually operates, not just how your chart of accounts is set up.

03

Establish the process

We set up (or tidy up) the systems that keep your books reconciled and current, on a schedule that suits your business.

I don’t simply process transactions and move on. If a reconciliation doesn’t balance or something looks unusual, I investigate it, ask questions and let you know what needs attention. Then I keep you informed as we go.

Who do I actually need?

Bookkeeper, BAS agent or accountant?

Most small businesses need more than one of these at some point. In practice, the roles divide like this.

What I do

Bookkeeper

Keeps your day-to-day records accurate: bank accounts reconciled, transactions coded, invoices and bills tracked, payroll run.

You need one if transactions are piling up, you’re not sure who owes you money, or the books are eating your evenings.

What I do

Registered BAS Agent

Registered with the Tax Practitioners Board to prepare and lodge your BAS and IAS, advise on GST, PAYG withholding and super, and deal with the ATO about them for you.

You need one if you want someone else to prepare or lodge your BAS. Anyone who charges for that must be registered.

Works alongside me

Accountant or tax agent

Prepares your income tax return and financial statements, and advises on tax planning, business structure and bigger financial decisions.

You need one for your annual tax return and any income tax advice. That work stays with them.

I’m a bookkeeper and Registered BAS Agent. I don’t prepare income tax returns, but I’m happy to work with your accountant directly so you’re not the go-between. Read more about the difference.

Professional authority

Work with a Registered BAS Agent

I’m registered with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), the independent body that regulates tax and BAS agents in Australia. Registration means I’ve met the TPB’s education and experience requirements, carry professional indemnity insurance, and am bound by its Code of Professional Conduct.

Within that registration, I can prepare and lodge your BAS and IAS, handle GST coding and payroll-related PAYG and super obligations, and deal with the ATO on your behalf for BAS-related matters.
